KazEOSat-2 (Kazakhstan Earth Observation Satellite – Kazakhstan Earth Observation Satellite) – Kazakhstan’s second remote sensing satellite, was ordered by the Government of Kazakhstan on the basis of satellite platform «SSTL-150 +” the British company «SSTL».

«SSTL» is a subsidiary of «Airbus Defence and Space» (formerly EADS Astrium).

Launching satellites ERS medium resolution KazEOSat-2 took place on 20 June 2014 from the Russian launch base “Clear” (Orenburg region, Russia).

On board the satellite «KazEOSat-2″ as a payload installed scanning device KEIS (Kazakh Earth Imaging System), which is also known as the «JSS-56» (Jena-Optronik Spaceborne Scanner-56) or «MSI» (Multispectral Imager).
